One of the latest Syrian refugees to escape Syria and arrive on the Greek island of Lesbos brought along a friend he couldn’t bear to leave behind. The 17-year-old Syrian refugee, Aslan, carried his puppy inside a small red crate for 300 miles after leaving his war-torn country, along with a rucksack. His beloved dog Rose traveled the entire journey with her owner.
It turns out that the 17-year-old isn’t the only one. Many other refugees refuse to leave their furry friends, so you will find them carrying their pets as they attempt a risky journey to safety.
Given the multitude of dark and tragic events that have come out of the Syrian refugee crisis, it’s nice to see even a glimmer of hope with more positive stories like this one.
